Facing iTunes Error 11?

When it comes to iTunes, error 11 is not uncommon. It blinks on screen with some message given below:

Error: “The iPhone “Jaxov’s iPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (11).” 

Here are the most common solutions. Please perform them in the given sequence until your problem is solved.

1. Change Hosts File Instructions (For Windows and Mac Users)
2. Restore Using TinyUmbrella
3. Reinstall iTunes
4. Uninstall with AppZapper

Change Hosts File Instructions

A) For Windows:

There is Hosts file in the Windows directory. Change it in the following instructions to fix iTunes error 11:

1. Open My Computer.
2. Open following location:
3. Right click the “Hosts” file, select Open With | Notepad.
4. Scroll down the Notepad scrollbar.
5. Delete the following line:
6. Click File | Save.

B) For Mac:

If you’re a Mac user, please follow these instructions:

1. Log-in from the Admin user account and close iTunes, if it’s already open.
2. Open following location:
     Or press Command + Shift and then G. Enter /private/etc and click the Go button.
3. Type “Hosts” (without quotes) in the Find textbox.
4. Drag the file to your desktop.
5. Open the file in Editor.
6. Scroll down and remove “gs.apple.com” (without quotes) command. Press # (Harsh) to          comment.
7. Save and close the file.
8. Now drag the file to its original location which is /private/etc
9. Open iTunes.

Restore Using TinyUmbrella

Restore your iPhone using TinyUmbrella to fix iTunes error 11. Download TinyUmbrella and restore iPhone. Here are the steps required:

1. Search TinyUmbrella on Google.
2. Download and install TinyUmbrella. Open it, select Advance.
3. Uncheck the checkbox “Set Hosts to Cydia on exit”.
4. Exit TinyUmbrella and restore iTunes to defaults.

Reinstall iTunes

iTunes installation files could be corrupt. Reinstall iTunes so that the original files will be restored. Here’s how:

1. Click Start | Control Panel.
2. Click Programs | Uninstall a Program.
3. Select “iTunes” and click Uninstall button.
4. Follow the wizard and download-reinstall iTunes again.
5. Reboot the system.

Uninstall with AppZapper

A simplest way to fix iTunes error 11 is to uninstall the program with AppZapper. You can also use Pacifist to uninstall it. A prompt will appear asking you to replace a file. Click Continue button.
