Ubisoft Game Launcher Error

An error may occur every time you start Ubisoft game. The game will fail to load. There are different types of solutions. Some of these are explained in this article.

  • Alter Hosts File
  • Reinstall Game Launcher File
  • Change Game Configurations
  • Delete Registry Junk
  • Exclude from DEP

Alter Hosts File
The Hosts file contains certain configurations which are needed to be altered in order to fix Ubisoft game launcher error.
  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Double click: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc
  3. Right click the Hosts file and select Open With | Notepad.
  4. If you see the following line, then delete it:
  5. <Some IP Address>
  6. Click File | Save.
Reinstall Game Launcher File
Because of problems with the game launcher installation files, you may see Ubisoft game launcher error. To overcome it, click here and download the launcher installer. Run it and install it on your computer.

Change Game Configurations
There is a file called ConvictionUserPC.ini. Open it using Notepad and change the game configurations as said below. Ubisoft game launcher error will not occur again.
  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Press F3 for Search and type ConvictionUserPC.ini and press ENTER.
  3. From the search results, right click this file and select Open With | Notepad.
  4. Click Edit | Find.
  5. Type FullScreenViewPortX/Y and click Find Next.
  6. When you get the above string, enter the appropriate Screen Resolution you have set to your desktop.
  7. Click File | Save.
Delete Registry Junk
The information stored in the registry matters a lot how your games work. Ubisoft game launcher error is shown if the registry information is improperly modified. Delete junk registry entries and reinsert the proper values to resolve this issue.
  1. Download a Registry Cleaner and PC Optimizer.
  2. Start a full scan. See the scan report and if errors are found then fix them immediately.
Exclude from DEP
DEP stands for Data Execution Prevention. Exclude Ubisoft game launcher file from it so as to prevent runtime errors.
  1. Click Start, right click My Computer and select Properties.
  2. Click Advanced System Settings, then Settings (Performance frame).
  3. Click Data Execution Prevention tab.
  4. Select the second option Turn On DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
  5. Click Add and locate the following folder.
  6. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GameLauncher\
  7. Add UbisoftGameLauncher.exe and then click OK | OK.
